		<description>The costs are large, but in the cellphone world, subscribers are king. The marginal cost per subscriber is negligible, and the monthly fees are substantial. Most people can&#039;t be bothered to change their service once they&#039;re subscribed, so the main cost is acquiring new subscribers. Hence a huge pool of subscribers is an immense asset.

This is true. However, the buyer will have to migrate the subscribers to its telephony network, offer them new cellphones, etc. The costs are unavoidable.

If there are 3 remaining companies, the failing company had X subscribers, and it fails, each company can expect to get X/3 new customers (assuming the remaining companies have equally good marketing). If one of the remaining companies buys it up, however, that company would purchase the entire customer base of X customers.</description>
